The effects of art activity on aggression in children with conduct disorder

Abstract
The purpose of the study was to analyze the effects of art activity used on children with conduct disorder, showing aggressive behavior. The case study involved three boys between the ages of 9 and 10 years old with conduct disorder. The art therapy program consists of 16 sessions and was performed 1hr per day twice a week. It was used for children to express their emotions and to manifests the sentiments which becomes hundred million pressures. A comparative analysis was used to measure the effects of art activity with children with conduct disorder. And the attack scale(BDHI) were administered to the children before and after the intervention of art activity. The process of the art activity was analyzed through the verbatim of the activity process, the observations on the children¡¯s behaviors and the symbols of the children¡¯s work. The result is as follows : First, The art activity program showed positive effects on the children who experienced physical aggressive behavior. Second, The art activity program showed positive effects on the children who experienced verbal aggressive behavior. Third, The art activity program showed positive effects on the children who experienced indirect aggressive behavior. After the art activity program children did not display any physical nor verbal abuse amongst others. Every session activity showed positive trends in aggressive conduct. After the program children were able to get along well and maintain a good relationship with other children.
